Lifting, Moving & Handling Course

This course is ideal for any Care environment as it raises the importance of good moving & handling techniques. Poor moving and handling can result in the cost of an accident, the lost time, the replacement labour, compensation, fines, the list is endless and the sums large. Use this course to raise the awareness and importance of good practice.

Who Should Attend?
All care workers should receive annual moving and handling update training to reduce potential injury from moving and handling operations.

Learning Outcome
This course covers the importance of safe moving and handling techniques and practice, to help reduce the risks involved.

Course Content
Delegates will receive training in: -

  • Anatomy, structure and function of the spine
  • Principles of handling people in a care environment
  • The importance of risk assessments
  • Safe lifting techniques
  • Minimising work place hazards
  • Reducing the risk of an injury
  • Assisting mobility
  • Assisting people in chairs
  • Assisting people in bed
  • The safe and effective use of handling aids

Course Duration
The course duration is six hours in duration (9.30am - 4.30pm).

Assessment & Certification
Continuous assessment by trainer throughout the course. On completion of the course activities and a Multiple Choice Question paper, delegates will receive a certificate of attendance that is valid for one year.
